Have Any Questions?

We’ve outlined some common questions below that will help you to make informed decisions on your NDIS journey. If you have an additional query, our pleasant onboarding team members would be happy to assist.

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme, also known as the NDIS, is run by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

The NDIS provides funding to Australians living with a disability to provide reasonable and necessary supports that relate to their disability to help achieve their goals.

The NDIA ensures that quality controls are met and that those who are eligible receive sufficient support in a dignified manner.

Am I Eligible for NDIS Funding?

You are eligible for NDIS funding if you:

a) Are an Australian citizen or have a permanent residency visa, and

b) Are between the ages of 7 and 65, and

c) Have a permanent or significant disability.

The amount of funding you receive will depend on your individual requirements. To find out more please speak to your service provider or Local Area Coordinator.

Acessing The NDIS

Once you have established your eligibility:

You need to contact the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to make your ‘Access Request’ (request for NDIS Funding).>

You can make your access request either Verbally over the phone by calling the NDIA on 1800 800 110, or by completing a Request Access Form.

When making your Access Request, the NDIA will ask you a series of questions about yourself and your disability.

Your doctor or other health professional may also be required to submit evidence related to your disability and its impact on your life. This is also known as the “gathering of support information” stage. There is an NDIS guide on how to provide evidence of a disability, you can read it by clicking on this link.

Please note: If completing the paper form, you will require the assistance of a health professional to complete Part F of the form.

If you completed a Verbal Access Request over the phone, your request will be submitted once all the required evidence is submitted.

If you need to lodge your Access Request or any supporting evidence electronically, you should do so by sending it to this email address: NAT@ndis.gov.au
